Post subject: | How would you do it |
I'm looking for some insight on what everyones approach would be. In a perfect world, if I was to order 5 boardfoot of hardwood lumber and had the choice of what size boards I received. What size boards would be optimal to yield the most back and side sets as well binding, bridges, finger boards, etc with the least amount of waste? The back and side sets should be large enough for Jumbo or at least a Grand Auditorium size sets. Thanks for your help-----Chris |

I don't know, but maybe a book like 'how to season and dry your own wood' by alan holtham would help, or at least lead you in the right direction you could work it out yourself with some schematics and calculations |

When I buy lumber to Resaw I am more concerned with grain structure and run out.....as far as size it needs to be big enough for what you want to get out of it. Cutting tone Woods is not a maximum yeild process, its about getting the best quality cuts and there is usually a considerable amount of waste. |

I should've said when I noticed, Todd, but I think you posted this answer in a different thread by mistake. Mystery solved ![]() And very useful information it is, too! Cheers, |

If someone else types and sends a reply while you are typing, when you hit submit, you will get another screen saying there was another reply since you started making your post. You need to hit submit again or the post wont post. |

Good info about how to avoid dropping a post (it has happened to me before), in this case however, no posts were dropped. There are two versions of this thread out there. search.php?keywords=looking+for+some+insight&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=topics&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search |
